Kimia Ghassemy, Psy.D.

Founder/Owner

Dr. Kimia Ghassemy is a licensed clinical psychologist and the founder of Vibrant Start, with extensive clinical training and experience with children, adolescents, and families.  Dr. Ghassemy has worked in a variety of clinical settings including community mental health centers, residential rehabilitation centers, non profit organizations, school based clinics, in home settings, college counseling centers, and psychiatric hospitals.

 

Dr. Ghassemy’s educational background parallels her professional experience: 

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of California, Irvine

  • Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from the University of California, Irvine

  • Master’s degree in Psychology from Pepperdine University

  • Master's degree in Education from National University

  • Multiple Subject Teaching Credentials from National University

  • Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from Alliant International University

  • Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Alliant International University

 

Current professional experience:

 

  • Supervising Psychologist at Los Angeles County’s Department of Mental Health Specialized Foster Care Program, working with children and adolescents in the foster care system.  On a multidisciplinary team, she provides clinical supervision, crisis intervention, stabilization and supportive services to foster youth with a variety of mental health and behavioral issues. 

  • Adjunct Professor at Argosy University, Orange County teaching various courses in the Master’s of Clinical Psychology program.

  • Adjunct Professor at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology teaching various courses in the Doctorate of Clinical Psychology program.

  • Co-Founder of CARE Multicultural Healing, a non profit mental health organization focused on providing education about diversity, mental health and youth.
